Crossword Genius

Ice-cold splits in fridge (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

hill

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'ice-cold splits in' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how one could define the other.

'fridge' is the second definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for hill that I've seen before include "Incline" , "High point, but not a mountain" , "See 14" , "pike" , "See 8" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
