Crossword Genius

Just two different forms of golf for entertainment (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

fairground

'just two' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how they can define each other.

'different forms of golf for entertainment' is the wordplay.
'different forms of' becomes 'g' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'golf' becomes 'round' (round is a kind of golf).
'for' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'entertainment' becomes 'fair' (as in a fun fair).
'g'+'round'='ground'
'ground' after 'fair' is 'FAIRGROUND'.

(Other definitions for fairground that I've seen before include "Scary ride here perhaps" , "that holds attractions" , "Entertainment venue" , "good enough for entertainment" , "rides here" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
