Crossword Genius

Keen on drinking whiskey, thus something may get broken? (2,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

in two

'thus something may get broken?' is the definition.
(as in breaking something in two)

'keen on drinking whiskey' is the wordplay.
'keen on' becomes 'into' (I've seen this before).
'drinking' indicates putting letters inside (inserted letters are consumed or drunk).
'whiskey' becomes 'W' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'into' going around 'w' is 'IN TWO'.

(Other definitions for in two that I've seen before include "simply split" , "Asunder" , "divided up thus?" , "Completely divided" , "apart" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
