Like getting in record in the mountains? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

alps

'the mountains?' is the definition.
(European mountain range)

'like getting in record' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'as'.
'getting in' is an insertion indicator.
'record' becomes 'L-P' (abbreviation for long play record).
'as' placed around 'lp' is 'ALPS'.

'in' is the link.

(Other definitions for alps that I've seen before include "South-central European mountain system" , "European mountains" , "Slap about in mountains" , "Mont Blanc is therein" , "European mountain range" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Independent.
