'translation' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to communication as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'like wagner's ring came' is the wordplay.
'ring came' can be anagrammed to 'GERMANIC'.
Though, I'm unsure how the anagram is indicated.

'with' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for germanic that I've seen before include "Teutonic" , "Typical of the largest member of the EU and its people" , "For example Dutch" , "language used in the old days" , "Of ancient north European peoples" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
