I believe the answer is:

peacekeeper

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'blue cap?' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'man heard in front of goalie someone' is the wordplay.
'man' becomes 'p' (abbreviation for pawn, a chess piece or 'man').
'heard' indicates a 'sounds like' (homophone) clue.
'in front of' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other) (some letters go in front of others).
'goalie' becomes 'keeper' (I've seen this before).
'someone' becomes 'ce' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'p' sounds like 'pea'.
'keeper' put after 'ce' is 'cekeeper'.
'pea'+'cekeeper'='PEACEKEEPER'

'in' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for peacekeeper that I've seen before include "One enforcing a truce" , "one opposed to war" , "Such as a UN soldier" , "who tries to stop fighting?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
