Although both the answer and definition are plural nouns, I cannot see how one could define the other.
'marksmen who have' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'have' could be 'star' (starring is a kind of having) and 'star' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'shootings' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
