Member of clergy is always interrupting break (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

reverend

'member of clergy' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'always interrupting break' is the wordplay.
'always' becomes 'ever' (synonyms).
'interrupting' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'break' becomes 'rend' (I've seen this in other clues).
'ever' placed within 'rend' is 'REVEREND'.

'is' is the link.

(Other definitions for reverend that I've seen before include "Minister" , "Title of a Protestant clergyman" , "Title for clergyman or convent Mother" , "Cleric's title" , "like Father Brown" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
