doorway

'opening' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'move irregularly cross getting comeuppance' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'move' could be 'way' (way is a kind of move) and 'way' is present in the answer.
'cross' could be 'door' (a door is a kind of cross) and 'door' is found within the answer.
No letters remain.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'in' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for doorway that I've seen before include "Entrance to a room" , "Room access, threshold" , "Opening" , "Threshold, portal" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
