Crossword Genius

Ross

I believe the answer is:

roach

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'nothing' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'a rachmaninov piece can be termed fishy' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'a' is found in the answer.
'piece' could be 'r' (abbreviation for Rook) and 'r' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'och' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'in' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for roach that I've seen before include "Fresh-water food fish" , "butt" , "Something fishy here" , "bedbug in the Waldorf?" , "Swimmer" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
