Crossword Genius

One oven to a house, perhaps (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

oast

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'one oven' is the first definition.
(type of kiln)

'house perhaps' is the second definition.
'oast' can be an answer for 'house' (oast houses are used in brewing). I'm not certain of the 'perhaps' bit.

'to a' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for oast that I've seen before include "Oven for hops" , "Hop-drying kiln" , "Where to cook" , "Cooker" , "Drying house" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
