Crossword Genius

Opening of cinema features parts of films (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

clips

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'films' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being plural nouns.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'opening of cinema features parts' is the wordplay.
'opening of' says to take the initial letters.
'features parts' becomes 'lips' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
The initial letter of 'cinema' is 'c'.
'c'+'lips'='CLIPS'

'of' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for clips that I've seen before include "Cuts; fasteners" , "Trims" , "reduces" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
