Crossword Genius

Originally Ned's bits and pieces on the radio (5,4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

loose ends

'pieces on the radio' is the definition.
(BBC Radio 4 programme)

I don't understand how the rest of the clue works.

(Other definitions for loose ends that I've seen before include "Unfinished business" , "items to be settled" , "details yet to be explained" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
