Crossword Genius

Outcast with a quiet song at the hotel (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pariah

'outcast' is the definition.
(I know that outcast can be written as pariah)

'quiet song at the hotel' is the wordplay.
'quiet' becomes 'p' (music symbol for 'piano', ie soft or quiet).
'song' becomes 'aria' (piece of music in an opera).
'at' says to put letters next to each other.
'the hotel' becomes 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'p'+'aria'+'h'='PARIAH'

'with a' is the link.

(Other definitions for pariah that I've seen before include "An untouchable" , "person shunned" , "Outcast (state)" , "someone socially unacceptable" , "Unacceptable person" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Independent.
