Crossword Genius

Palladium's youth centre (3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

lad

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue might be a double definition.

'palladium's youth' is the first definition.
'lad' can be an answer for 'youth' (lad means a young man). I'm not certain of the 'palladium's' bit.

'centre' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how they can define each other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for lad that I've seen before include "Chap, fellow" , "Stable worker" , "Son" , "Boy or youth" , "Shaver" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
