Crossword Genius

Parties at hotel making money (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dosh

'money' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'parties at hotel' is the wordplay.
'parties' becomes 'dos' (do is a kind of party).
'at' says to put letters next to each other.
'hotel' becomes 'h' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'dos'+'h'='DOSH'

'making' is the link.

(Other definitions for dosh that I've seen before include "Bread - gravy - dough" , "Shod (anag.)" , "Spondulicks" , "currency" , "Ready" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
