Crossword Genius

Pause at the section of the paper showing the strike (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

stoppage

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'the strike' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'pause at the section of the paper' is the wordplay.
'pause' becomes 'stop'.
'at' says to put letters next to each other.
'the section of the paper' becomes 'page' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'stop'+'page'='STOPPAGE'

'showing' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for stoppage that I've seen before include "Instance of industrial action" , "Refusal to work" , "strike results" , "Onstruction in pipe or interruption in game" , "strike action" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
