Crossword Genius

Picture not showing wine next to a dish (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

raita

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'dish' is the definition.
(Indian dish)

'picture not showing wine next to a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'wine' could be 'it' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'it' is found in the answer.
'a' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ra' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for raita that I've seen before include "Indian side dish of yogurt and chopped cucumber" , "Indian side-dish of cucumber and yoghurt" , "food dish" , "side order" , "fare from India" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
