Ross

I believe the answer is:

put up

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'place' is the definition.
(I know that instal is the is a more specific form of the action of put up.)

'finished be accommodating' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'finished' could be 'up' (eg 'time's up' means the time is finished) and 'up' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'put' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for put up that I've seen before include "Take lodgings" , "Provide shelter" , "Erected" , "unfair sort of job" , "Give accommodation to" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
