Ross

I believe the answer is:

puts on airs

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'plays some' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with social activities as well as being verbs in their -s form.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I can't see?

'tunes and struts around' is the wordplay.
'tunes' becomes 'airs' (air can mean a piece of music).
'and' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'struts around' becomes 'putson' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should believe this answer much more).
'airs' put after 'putson' is 'PUTS ON AIRS'.

Can you help me to learn more?

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
