(I've seen this before)

'hearts card laid on top' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'hearts' could be 'h' (abbreviation used in card games e.g. bridge) and 'h' is located in the answer.
'card' could be 'wit' (synonyms) and 'wit' is found in the answer.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
