Published papers sent up for cash in Iraq (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dinar

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'cash in iraq' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'published papers sent up' is the wordplay.
'published' becomes 'ran' (as in a newspaper running a story).
'papers' becomes 'ID' (identifying documents are one's 'papers').
'sent up' says the letters should be written backwards.
'ran'+'id'='ranid'
'ranid' back-to-front is 'DINAR'.

'for' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for dinar that I've seen before include "Iraqi CURRENCY" , "Currency of several Arab states" , "Middle Eastern currency" , "N African capital" , "Currency unit of Algeria, Libya etc" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
