Record of award for gallantry one wears (4)
![Ross](/clue/static/ross-mug.min.png)
I believe the answer is:
disc
'record' is the definition.
(eg a CD, compact disc)
'award for gallantry one wears' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is present in the answer.
'award' could be 'dsc' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'dsc' is located in the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'of' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for disc that I've seen before include "Sound recording" , "Forty-five" , "Flat round plate" , "Circle" , "One of 33, 45 or 78?" .)
