I believe the answer is:

regain

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'recover' is the definition.
('regain' can be a synonym of 'recover')

'the paroxysm of anger to embrace one' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'i' (Roman numeral) and 'i' is located in the answer.
an anagram of 'anger' is 'regan' which is present in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'from' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for regain that I've seen before include "Recover - in gear (anag)" , "Possess once more for regina" , "Take back (the Ashes, for example)" , "Get back, recover the use of" , "Win back" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
