Scrap over display for Queen? (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tattoo

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'display for queen?' is the definition.
'tattoo' can be an answer for 'display' (I have seen 'Military display ' mean 'tattoo' so perhaps 'display' could also mean 'tattoo'). I'm not certain of the 'for queen?' bit.

'scrap over' is the wordplay.
'scrap' becomes 'tat' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'over' becomes 'too' (I've seen this before).
'tat'+'too'='TATTOO'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tattoo that I've seen before include "Military display - needlework!" , "paraded?" , "Military display - skin design" , "Needlework! - performed by soldiers!" , "Indelible picture made in the skin" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
