Crossword Genius

See British getting high return? (3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

lob

'high return?' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'see british getting' is the wordplay.
'see' becomes 'lo' (archaic exclamation meaning 'look!').
'british' becomes 'b' (abbreviation e.g. in 'BBC').
'getting' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'lo'+'b'='LOB'

(Other definitions for lob that I've seen before include "sky" , "Throw a slow, high ball" , "Hit a ball in a high arc" , "Elevated shot" , "Toss" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
