Crossword Genius

Singular bargain just the ticket (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ideal

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'just the ticket' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'singular bargain' is the wordplay.
'singular' becomes 'i' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'bargain' becomes 'deal' (synonyms).
'i'+'deal'='IDEAL'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ideal that I've seen before include "existing only in imagination" , "highly desirable" , "Just perfect, couldn't be better" , "Optimum" , "principle to be aimed at" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
