Crossword Genius

Small, you grant, and pasty-faced (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sallow

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'pasty-faced' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'small you grant' is the wordplay.
'small you' becomes 's' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'grant' becomes 'allow' (synonyms).
's'+'allow'='SALLOW'

'and' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sallow that I've seen before include "Sickly yellowish colour" , "Of complexion, pasty or yellowish" , "Sickly complexion" , "Pale or yellowish colour" , "(Of complexion) rather yellowish" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
