Crossword Genius

Starry-eyed setter visiting shop stocking article getting endless criticism (10)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

idealistic

'starry-eyed' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'setter visiting shop stocking article getting endless criticism' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'setter' could be 'i' (the person that set the crossword) and 'i' is found in the answer.
'article' could be 'a' (indefinite article) and 'a' is present in the answer.
'shop' could be 'deli' (deli is a kind of shop) and 'deli' is found within the remaining letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for idealistic that I've seen before include "Utopian" , "High-minded - italicised (anag)" , "Visionary" , "Striving for perfection" , "Seeking the best" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
