Crossword Genius

Stuck in woods, Romeo can't help giggling (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

corpses

'can't help giggling' is the definition.
(corpse can mean to laugh on stage)

'stuck in woods romeo' is the wordplay.
'stuck in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'woods' becomes 'copses' (a copse is a small wood).
'romeo' becomes 'r' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'copses' enclosing 'r' is 'CORPSES'.

(Other definitions for corpses that I've seen before include "remains" , "Goofs on stage" , "Dead bodies" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
