Crossword Genius

Sway with bad back in a lively escapade (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

rollick

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'lively escapade' is the definition.
'rollick' can be an answer for 'escapade' (I have seen 'Boisterous escapade' mean 'rollick' so perhaps 'escapade' could also mean 'rollick'). I'm not certain of the 'lively' bit.

'sway with bad back' is the wordplay.
'sway' becomes 'rock' (synonyms).
'with' indicates putting letters inside.
'bad' becomes 'ill' (associated in meaning).
'back' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'ill' backwards is 'lli'.
'rock' enclosing 'lli' is 'ROLLICK'.

'in a' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for rollick that I've seen before include "Boisterous escapade" , "Revel" , "boisterous behaviour" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
