Crossword Genius

Take note of reasonable direction (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

clockwise

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'take note of reasonable' is the definition.
I can't judge whether this defines the answer.

'direction' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'direction' could be 'se' (SE is an example) and 'se' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for clockwise that I've seen before include "Cow sickle (anag.)" , "As hands sweep round" , "Moving as hands do?" , "Direction of movement on dial" , "going round as usual?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
