I believe the answer is:

lip reader

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'take' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how they can define each other.

'real pride training to become oral transliterator' is the wordplay.
'real pride' anagrams to 'LIP READER'.
But, I am unsure how the anagram is indicated.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for lip reader that I've seen before include "Person interpreting from mouth movements" , "One compensating for deafness" , "One, usually deaf, who uses sight to understand conversation" , "may well be deaf?" , "Interpreter of mouth movements" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
