I believe the answer is:

slight

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'insult' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'the pound popped inside' is the wordplay.
'the pound' becomes 'l'.
'popped' becomes 'sight' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'inside' indicates putting letters inside.
'l' going into 'sight' is 'SLIGHT'.

'see as an' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for slight that I've seen before include "Flimsy, tenuous" , "Disregard - snub" , "Fragile - thin" , "A disrespectful reference - not great" , "Snub - not much!" .)
