'the trouble' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both states of affairs as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'mum has with another woman?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'mum' could be 'ma' (ma can mean mother) and 'ma' is found within the answer.
'woman?' could be 'lady' (lady is a kind of woman) and 'lady' is present in the answer.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
