Crossword Genius

They take no end of towels (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

rollers

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'end of towels' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both man-made objects as well as being plural nouns.
Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?

'they take no' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'take' could be 'r' (abbreviation for 'recipe', Latin for 'take') and 'r' is present in the answer.
'no' could be 'o' (resembles 0 - 'no' can mean 'zero') and 'o' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for rollers that I've seen before include "They may be used to paint" , "expensive cars" , "Long heavy sea waves" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
