Crossword Genius

Travelling by train, out to catch the one ten, somehow (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

itinerant

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'travelling' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'train out to catch the one ten somehow' is the wordplay.
'out' is an anagram indicator (out can mean wrong or inaccurate).
'to catch' indicates putting letters inside.
'the one ten somehow' becomes 'tine' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'train' with letters rearranged gives 'irant'.
'irant' placed around 'tine' is 'ITINERANT'.

'by' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for itinerant that I've seen before include "Wandering from place to place" , "Old labourer/traveller who travelled from place to place" , "Travelling from place to place" , "Nomadic" , "Person who moves from place to place" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
