Unassuming Burgundy perhaps for the lady? (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

mildred

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'the lady?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'unassuming burgundy perhaps' is the wordplay.
'unassuming' becomes 'mild' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'burgundy perhaps' becomes 'red' (burgundy is a kind of red).
'mild'+'red'='MILDRED'

'for' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for mildred that I've seen before include "Woman" , "lady?" , "Girl" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
