Crossword Genius

Vehicle not returning to Georgia (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tonga

'vehicle' is the definition.
(I know that tonga is a type of wheeled vehicle)

'not returning to georgia' is the wordplay.
'returning' shows that the letters should be reversed in order.
'to georgia' becomes 'GA' (abbreviation for the US state).
'not' written backwards gives 'ton'.
'ton'+'ga'='TONGA'

(Other definitions for tonga that I've seen before include "Horse-drawn vehicle" , "South Pacific kingdom, capital Nuku'alofa" , "S.W Pacific Kingdom" , "Polynesian monarchy, member of the Commonwealth" , "Pacific Ocean monarchy" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Independent.
