Crossword Genius

Wet suit off, with further clothing (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

moisture

'wet' is the definition.
(synonyms)

'suit off with further clothing' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'suit' is 'istu' which is located in the answer.
'further' could be 'more' (synonyms) and 'more' is found within the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for moisture that I've seen before include "Wetness caused by water" , "Slight wetness" , "Damp" , "Liquid in small quantity, in the air say" , "Liquid condensed as droplets or in spray form" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
