Where to dine and hit coach (6,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

buffet car

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'where to dine' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'hit coach' is the wordplay.
'hit' becomes 'buffet' (buffeting is a kind of hitting).
'coach' becomes 'car' (as in a train coach or car).
'buffet'+'car'='BUFFET CAR'

'and' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for buffet car that I've seen before include "where fast food is obtained?" , "dining carriage" , "moving place to snack" , "catering venue" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
