… which gets pulled after chicken dinner (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

wishbone

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'chicken dinner' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I cannot see how one could define the other.

'which gets pulled' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'gets' could be 'is' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'is' is present in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'after' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for wishbone that I've seen before include "Supposedly lucky part of a fowl" , "Furcula" , "Bird-part pulled by two people for luck" , "V-shaped structure in chicken, turkey etc" , "Part of chicken" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
