Crossword Genius

Whisky calls? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bells

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This could be a double definition.

'whisky' is the first definition.
(Bell's is a brand of whisky)

'calls?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I cannot understand how they can define each other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for bells that I've seen before include "Musical instruments" , "Ringing instruments" , "Summoned by -- (Betjeman)" , "Ringing objects" , "Chimes" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
