Crossword Genius

A breeze from East, say, windy (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

easy

'a breeze' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'east say windy' is the wordplay.
'east' becomes 'e' (abbreviation).
'windy' is an anagram indicator (windy suggests disruption).
'say' with letters rearranged gives 'asy'.
'e'+'asy'='EASY'

'from' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for easy that I've seen before include "Promiscuous" , "Comparable to pie?" , "Presenting no problems" , "Simple or uncomplicated" , "Like a walk in the park?" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
