Crossword Genius

Calm, quaint, and extremely resourceful type (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

tranquil

'calm' is the definition.
(I know that calm can be written as tranquil)

'quaint and extremely resourceful type' is the wordplay.
'and' says to put letters next to each other.
'extremely' says to hollow out the word (remove centre letters) (only the extremes of the word are used).
'type' is an anagram indicator.
'resourceful' with its middle taken out is 'rl'.
'quaint' after 'rl' is 'rlquaint'.
'rlquaint' anagrammed gives 'TRANQUIL'.

(Other definitions for tranquil that I've seen before include "Serenely quiet or peaceful" , "Free from disturbance" , "Peaceful - calm" , "composed" , "not making waves" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
