Crossword Genius

Delete an article in Gaelic (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

erase

'delete' is the definition.
(I know that delete can be written as erase)

'an article in gaelic' is the wordplay.
'an article' becomes 'a' (the indefinite article in English).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'gaelic' becomes 'Erse' (synonyms).
'a' placed inside 'erse' is 'ERASE'.

(Other definitions for erase that I've seen before include "Remove, wipe out" , "Put out of mind" , "Clear" , "Remove all traces of" , "Eliminate" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
