Monster plant brought back by you and I (8)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

werewolf

'monster' is the definition.
(werewolf is a kind of monster)

'plant brought back by you and i' is the wordplay.
'plant' becomes 'flower' (flower is a kind of plant).
'brought back' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'by' says to put letters next to each other.
'you and i' becomes 'we'.
'flower' in reverse letter order is 'rewolf'.
'rewolf' put after 'we' is 'WEREWOLF'.

(Other definitions for werewolf that I've seen before include "Full moon howler" , "A monster able to change from human into a rapacious animal" , "Person beleived to be able to assume lupine form" , "Person who becomes a monster when the moon is full" , "one who can become beastly" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
