Crossword Genius

Particular area on the nape of some golf clubs (4,2,3,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

neck of the woods

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'particular area' is the definition.
'neck of the woods' can be an answer for 'area' (I've seen this in another clue). I'm unsure of the 'particular' bit.

'on the nape of some golf clubs' is the wordplay.
'on' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'nape' becomes 'neck' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'some golf clubs' becomes 'woods' (I've seen this in another clue).
'neck'+'of'='neckof'
'the' put after 'neckof' is 'neckofthe'.
'neckofthe'+'woods'='NECK OF THE WOODS'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for neck of the woods that I've seen is " perhaps in a particular area".)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
