Put it on without being told? (7)
I believe the answer is:
assumed
'told?' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to thinking as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?
'put it on without being' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is found in the answer.
'being' could be 'md' (MD is an example) and 'md' is found in the remaining letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for assumed that I've seen before include "Took (responsibility)" , "Took for granted" , "Put it on - without being told?" , "Seized" , "Took upon oneself" .)
