Rise and fall before noon? Hell, no (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

heaven

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'hell no' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'rise and fall before noon?' is the wordplay.
'rise and fall' becomes 'heave' (I've seen this before).
'before' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'heave'+'n'='HEAVEN'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for heaven that I've seen before include "Happy place" , "Paradise - supreme happiness" , "The abode of God in many religions" , "ecstasy" , "Place of supreme bliss" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
